The Downe Arms is now closed pending a major refurbishment.

Since our last update, our project team have been working hard to develop the plans for the intended major refurbishment of the Downe Arms. Planning and listed building consent has been delayed but both are expected shortly from North Yorkshire Council.

The project costs are however showing to be much higher than expected, and in the face of well publicised economic headwinds for the hospitality sector, this is proving to be very challenging. It maybe we have to amend plans accordingly, which of course lead to further unfortunate delays.

Rest assured the Estate remains fully committed to the project and is extremely keen for works to start. We will post a further update on intentions & timings, just as soon as we have a clear way forward agreed.
